The STIGA Tornado 398 M has a mechanical transmission and a wide 98 cm cutting deck with two blades and 2 anti-scalp wheels. The cutting height can be adjusted to 7 positions (from 25 to 80 mm) using a lever next to the driving seat, whilst the blades are activated by an electromagnetic clutch at the touch of a button!

What does Ride-on Mowers think about the STIGA Tornado 398M?

You won't find a cheaper ride-on mower that is backed by a great warranty. Great for people with reasonably flat gardens who mow regularly. The Tornado 398 has a cutting deck just shy of 1meter, so it cuts a good width of grass. This is the manual version, so you select what speed you wish to travel at. Speed three is about right for normal cutting. If you want a slight upgrade, then consider the hydrostatic version - well worth the extra money! If you mow longer, wet or tougher grass, then consider upgrading to a stronger twin engine. If you're still not sure, give us a call and we'll talk you through your options.
